The Satyam Cinemas in Chennai has become the hottest venue for holding audio and trailer launches. The latest craze is to hold ‘pooja’ launches at the multiplex.
On Wednesday (May 6) morning there was a double launch- audio release of Varnam and a press meet to launch Kalla Kadhalan.
The first to kick off was the audio launch of Alka Film Corporation’s and Media Zen’s Varnam, directed by S.M Raju who is also the producer of the film. The film has Dindigul boy Giri as the young hero, opposite Monica who plays a teacher. Sampath also plays an important part in the film.
The guests list at the function included people who created the new wave in Tamil cinema like the veterans Balu Mahendra and Madhu Ambhat and the young guns who changed the old format like , Ameer, Sasikumar, Samudrakanni, Na Muthukumar, Sampath and Venkat Prabhu.
Balu Mahendra was all praise for the realism and cinematography of the film by newcomer Prem. The three songs from the film were riveting and the music by Isaac Thomas Kottukapalli was melodious and soothing.
The locations where the songs have been picturised were Theni, Kodaikanal Munnar and Dindugal.
After the audio launch there was the logo launch of Kalla Kadhalan produced by Gaurav Sharma and Saurav Sharma of Storm Pictures.
Sibiraj plays a very different role in this film which has new face Vishal Hegde the Kannada star playing a pivotal role. The beautiful and leggy model, Ms Toursim International and Channel V Get Gorgeous winner Priyanka Shah was the cynosure of all eyes.
She is making her debut in Tamil and was wearing a red short dress(Kotta Pavadai). Ramya who has directed hit films in Telugu debuts as director with the film.
The story is loosely inspired from the Ahilya and Gautam Rishi episode in the Kamba Ramayana. For Sibi it was a dream come true to be acting with a co-star who could match his height as Priyanka is 5 feet 9 inches!
Let's see if this leggy lass strikes a chord with the Tamil audiences. For starters she took the effort of memorizing two whole lines in Tamil in her speech!
